Aiseesoft Blu-ray Ripper Platinum is a video conversion tool that lets you rip your Blu-ray or DVD movies and convert them into a variety of video and audio formats. The "Platinum" version of this application comes with a few extra features that are not available in the "Standard" one. Some of those options are the ability to create DVD movies from video files, otherwise known as DVD authoring and converting 3D content to 2D and other types of 3D. This is not the most advanced version of the application, though. The "Ultimate" version packs more functionality. However, if you only need to convert your movies so that you can play them on your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, other tablets and smartphones, the "Platinum" version is more than enough.
Aiseesoft Blu-ray Ripper Platinum uses a launcher that takes you to three separate applications: Blu-ray Ripper, 3D Converter and DVD Creator. Only one of them can be run at the same time.
I did most of my testing with the Blu-ray ripper. I liked that you can load a movie from the BD/DVD disc itself or from a folder on your hard drive. And it also lets you load video files. The format support is quite satisfactory, with conversion profiles for a lot of different devices. The application supports GPU acceleration, using the latest GPUs by both Nvidia and AMD. This feature can save you a lot of time. The app has a video editor that lets you trim and crop your videos, adjust some of their properties and add 3D effects.
